Ken Usato (兎里 健, Usato Ken) is the main protagonist in The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. He is a regular high schooler who yearns for something special. While returning from school with Suzune and Kazuki, the three were summoned to Llinger Kingdom. When his aptitude for healing magic was discovered, he was taken to join the Rescue Squad led by Rose. Through hellish training, he became proficient in healing magic and vastly improved his physique.
Personality[]
Usato has a headstrong and indomitable will. As a result, he was the only person who was able to keep up with Rose's training regime (Spartan Training). By reason of his personality, he is often called the "out of the ordinary/Unorthodox Healer" and "monster"; by his friends; which he has showed disapproval towards. He is good at imitating Rose's face. Usato has more awareness than the average isekai protagonist; but he tends to write off any explanation that involves a girl liking him. In Suzune's case, it's her lack of seriousness in most serious scenarios.

Abilities[]
Usato's main skill is healing magic, as he is proficient of healing his body. Unlike traditional healers thanks to Rose's training, he can regenerate his muscles while strengthening his power to an absurd degree, acquiring superhuman physical abilities and fighting skills in the process.
- Healing magic: Usato can heal others as well as heal himself, which he showed while healing his body to withstand Rose's inhuman way of training. He was able to create projectiles; by simply pitching them like a baseball. When healing, his hands emit a green glow.
- Healing Punch: Rose also taught this to him as a special move, which he uses to heal his enemies; by punching them. The healing punch does not leave injuries; but the pain and impact are still there, so he uses it as a technique to hit his opponents as much as he wants; without killing them at all.
- Supernatural Strength, Endurance, and Speed: As Usato has trained a lot under Rose to increase his physical powers, he can run long distances at high speed whilst carrying Blurin; without any fatigue. His power is capable of breaking binding magic, push-ups with huge blocks more than once, punch a hole through a giant wooden log, and uprooted from the ground. He can tanked some of Rose's assaults.
- Hand-to-hand combatant: With his inhuman strength, Usato primarily uses his fists to attack, developing as a skilled fighter during his training with Rose. Knowing his fighting style is way too simple, he started training under Arc to become stronger in this area.
Equipment[]
- Dragon Gauntlet: A fragment made from Falga the Divine Dragon's wings, which was originally a katana of the previous hero who used it against the Evil Dragon. Falga changed it to meet Usato's preferences on a weapon that resulted to a gauntlet. According to Falga, it lacks the offensive firepower compared to other weapons but has high resistance to any kind of attack.

Rose[]
Usato used to be terrified of Rose as she put him through hellish training, however the more time he spent with her she grew in him, he started respecting her as a teacher, being glad he met her, and getting emotional whenever she told him she is proud of him, waits for great things from him, he did good job, etc..
Suzune Inukami[]
At School, Usato admired her beauty and popularity, he wished that he could be as cool as her, one evening Usato was left stranded at school, as someone took his umbrella, Usato refused to take the remaining umbrella as that would be stealing, Suzune confronted Usato and asked him what was wrong, Usato told her what had happened and said that he would just run home, Suzune told him that she would not allow one of her underclassman to walk home alone in the rain, Kazuki then appeared and loaned Usato his spare umbrella. Usato then saw Suzune's true self when they were summoned to Llinger, Usato saw that Suzune was a massive Fantasy and Isekai nerd. Usato hung out with her whenever he had a break and they bonded, Usato was a bit taken aback by her lustful advances but when they got stranded in the woods Usato protected Suzune from a fall and healed her. Usato developed feelings for Suzune but he kept avoiding her due to her lustful shenanigans. Usato also teases her by telling her to use thunder or thunderbolt and Suzune always tells him that she is not a Pocket Monster
Kazuki Ryuusen[]
Like with Suzune, Usato admired Kazuki for his popularity, When Usato was left stranded at school Kazuki loaned him his spare umbrella, on the way home they bonded and then got summoned to Llinger Usato seemed excited and Asked Kazuki if they were getting transported and Kazuki told him to get his priorities straight. As heroes Kazuki continued his friendship with Usato
Blurin[]
Usato was tasked with Killing a Grand Grizzly, Usato encountered Blurin and his parents who all chased him intending to kill and eat him, Usato escaped them and then spent days monitoring their den, Usato saw that they were a loving family and felt guilt of having to kill them. On the day that Usato planned to kill the Bears he found that the Mother and Father had been killed, Usato noticed the wounds and recognized them as the bite marks of the giant snake, Usato realized that as the Snake left the Carcasses it didn't kill them for food, just fun, Usato saw Blurin trying to wake up its parents and felt anger for having his target taken and also for the snake orphaning an innocent cub. Usato fought the Snake and saw that Blurin was there trying to avenge its parents, through their combined efforts they defeated the Snake, sadly the Snake got up and Rose killed it for good.
Usato adopted Blurin and took care of him every day, feeding him Apples and going for jogs whilst carrying him
Felm[]
Usato fought Felm when she was in her armor, Usato realized that Reflect would transfer the injuries onto him so he pummeled Felm with Healing infused punches to defeat her. As a prisoner Felm begged to see Usato one last time, When Usato arrived she told him that she didn't have long left, Usato realized that she was badly injured and the guards hadn't treated her, Usato demanded that the guards open the cell, Usato entered and healed Felm, Felm resisted at first but she then realized that the healing magic was warm, She held Usato's hand whilst he healed her and Usato allowed her to hold his hand as long as she wanted. Usato would frequently visit Felm and would talk to her and vent to her about his problems with Rose, Felm eventually joined the Rescue Corp via Rose forcing her like she did with Usato, and Usato was tasked as her caretaker
Amako[]
She is one of the main characters in the series. She is from Beast Kingdom far from Llinger Kingdom and near to Demon Lord's territory. She was searching for a Healing mage outside of Beast Kingdom who can treat her mother. With her ability she shows Usato the future of what was suppose to take place in war and when he watches Inukami sempai and Kazuki dying with the hands of Felm who was wearing black armor. After saving both heros/friends, Usato finally finds the beast girl and knows her name and her ability. Then she asks tells him she was waiting for him and now it's time to pay back. She tells about her mother and also about how she is willing to take him to the beast kingdom. After hearing this, he ensures to travel with her. Then the kingdom plans the route which Usato was going to travel, to deliver the letters to the other Kingdoms, asking for support during the war against the demon lords army, keeping in mind that he also reaches the Beast Kingdom. They all leave the Llinger Kingdom with Amako and others.
She is a character in the manga. After Usato defeated her, she became his familiar, represented by an owl.
